Matt Cerbin is the ultimate D.Y.I. indie kind of guy on his new album Black Garden. He calls his “band” Deaf Symphony. He plays guitar, keyboards, sings, and produces the entire album. He does get some help from Larry Cox, who plays drums and helps him to turn the knobs in the studio.

I love the name of the band, Deaf Symphony. Actually, you would have to be stone deaf not to hear the symphony of metal put together on this album. Although it took me a few listens for it to agree with me, Cerbin sounds like a Rob Halford clone and that is ok because it does suit the music very well. Its interesting how he closes the album with an nice acoustic number after all the doom and gloom in the previous tracks. He sounds like an entirely different vocalist on that track, not even close to the metal Halford sound. It is obvious the man has a load of talent when you consider everything he did to make this recording happen. I mean what the hell-he brings in a drummer and that is all he needs? That is truly exceptional.

On the title track “Black Garden,” he plays a nifty little acoustic intro that has you wondering what is going on after burnin’ down the house with “Scary Love Song” and “Vision.” Not to worry though, he kicks it into high gear very quickly on that track and puts you back into the hard rockin’ mood that started things off. Its Cerbin’s way of saying, hey, I can play the acoustic guitar and be tasteful as well while still holding my ground to rock my ass off all at the same time, so listen up! I did pay attention and certainly appreciated what he did. “Dark Angel” is full of repetition, which annoyed me, and it does not put the singer in a good light at all. That was the only track on the album I did not care for. The meat and potatoes of the album come hammerin’ home with tracks 6-8. In those tracks, “Phantom,” “Evening Mist,” and “Passage,” you hear the core sound of the entire album. I heard the chops of Tony Iommi during his Black Sabbath days more than once during those heavy-duty songs. For me that was a total turn on. I revered Sabbath in the 70s; their music was so hard and dark, much like what you will hear on this album.

This music is meant to be played loud it is not for the faint of heart to say the least. If you loved Sabbath and Judas Priest this will be your ticket to get on that hell bound train once again. Let’s roll!

Body jewelry and body piercing practices have been observed by various groups of people all over the world throughout the centuries. For some tribes it is a rite of passage, for others it is an indicator of social status. For many, body jewelry is used to enhance personal beauty and as devices to rise above the rest of the pack. Today’s celebrities have been at the forefront in making body jewelry much more mainstream and acceptable - even desirable.

“What’s a little pain if it’ll make me look hip” seems to be the prevalent thought among the young and the old who are turning out in increasing numbers to participate in the body jewelry trend. Not so long ago, only punk rockers and those with ‘bad boy’ images, such as former NBA star Dennis Rodman, were seen sporting body piercings in mainstream media. Today, body jewelry is endorsed by pop celebrities with mass followings, including Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Fiona Apple and Lenny Kravitz. Britney Spears has an extensive collection of navel rings, and Christina Aguilera is said to wear the most interesting body jewelry in areas that are covered by her clothing.

Some celebrities with an otherwise ’serious’ image are nevertheless fans of body art. Actress Camryn Manheim of the television drama ‘The Firm’ sports multiple earrings on the cartilage of one ear. Gillian Anderson, who played the cynical and skeptical FBI agent Dana Scully in the television series ‘The X Files,’ has a pierced belly button. Performers with tongue piercings include former Spice Girl Melanie Brown (Scary Spice) and dancer Jimmy Gulzar, while supermodels Christy Turlington and James King are proud of their piercings. Some sports celebrities also wear body jewelry, including WWE wrestlers A-Train and Billy Gunn, as well as football player Ricky Williams.

Body jewelry has also been used throughout the ages to enhance sensation, and by extension, sexuality and sexual performance. Genital and nipple piercing in both men and women, while not as widespread as nose, ear, tongue, navel and eyebrow piercing, still has its own following. Singer Janet Jackson has stated on the Oprah Winfrey talk show that she likes the sensation that her pierced nipples give her. Other celebrities with pierced nipples include rock musicians Axl Rose and Tommy Lee, Icelandic singer Bjork and rapper Lil Kim. Pop princess Britney Spears likewise has a pierced nipple.

Celebrities, whether they like it or not, are oftentimes looked up to as role models and the influence they wield over their fans is considerable. Fans emulate their idols’ preferences: from clothing, mannerism, even to the wearing of body jewelry. More and more, they are playing a leading role not only in the direction of today’s fashion trends but also in the shaping of modern pop culture.

A spin-off of the popular TV series Everybody Loves Raymond, King of Queens first hit the airwaves in the Fall of 1998. The show follows the life of Doug Heffernan (played by comedian Kevin James), a package delivery man for IPS (far different from UPS for you litigious-minded readers out there), and the show utilizes much of the same marital and relationship humor found in Ray Romano’s blockbuster sitcom. With seven successful seasons under its belt, and even more yet to come, King of Queens is a hilarious comedy series well worth one’s time and attention…

King of Queens revolves around the life of Doug Heffernan, a hard-working, sports-loving parcel delivery man living in Queens, New York. In his thirties, and married to a lovely woman named Carrie (Leah Remini - who played Carla’s daughter on the hit show Cheers), Doug spends most of his non-working hours basking in the glow of his state-of-the-art 70-inch TV with two buddies who share his fanatical love of sports, Spence (Patton Oswalt) and Deacon (Victor Williams). But Doug’s personal paradise suffers a devastating blow when Carrie’s widowed father Arthur (Jerry Stiller of Seinfeld fame) moves in with the couple. Doug’s TV fantasy room is converted into an in-law suite, and after several failed relocation attempts, the TV is pushed into the garage… Now Doug and Carrie must learn to share their palace with an eccentric, and oftentimes annoying, father/father-in-law with a penchant for messing up the couple’s well-grounded routine…

The King of Queens (Season 2) DVD features a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere “Queasy Rider” in which Doug buys a motorcycle, clearly violating Carrie’s stated wishes. As part of a plan to get Doug to sell the motorcycle, Carrie takes up smoking, telling Doug that she’ll give up cigarettes when he gives up the bike. But when Doug sells the bike, Carrie’s guilt causes her to buy it back, resulting in some unintended consequences… Other notable episodes from Season 2 include “Parent Trapped” in which Deacon and his wife Kelly ask Doug and Carrie to be the godparents of their newborn (they decline, but then regret doing so), and “Net Prophets” in which Doug and Carrie invest their Christmas bonus in the stock of an online company they know little about…

Most men feel that they cannot escape spring cleaning. It shouldn’t be like that though. We have rights too!
As we gradually become accustomed to the fact that the spring season is upon us, we men are getting that twitch. It is the same twitch that plagues us every year when the women start mentioning spring cleaning and we start making excuses. More often than not, however, our excuses don’t work and we get sucked into the frenzy like a torpedo in a giant toilet.

Now, when I say “we”, I am of course referring to those men that are bound to a woman. Being that I live alone, spring cleaning consists of washing my sheets. And I don’t event do that myself. The people at the Laundromat are happy enough to do it in exchange for a few dollars. But that is not the point. “We” (again, not me) don’t use Laundromats. “We” have “our” (same implication) sheets cleaned at home.

Anyways, a torpedo in a toilet is bad news. I’d call a plumber. But “you” shouldn’t! This is your chance to evade spring cleaning! You will become a plumber this spring! While everyone is making things nice and pretty, you will learn about sewage and pipes. Lead pipes! Which poison your water! Boy, isn’t this exciting?

Ok, the first thing you need to know about plumbing is how water works. Water is usually a clear, odorless substance, primarily a liquid, which flows freely. However, as a plumber, this is not the water you will see. The water we will learn about is “plumbing water”, a dark, dirty, smelly goo, that must be forced through pipes by means of plungers and snakes (mechanical plumbers’ snakes, that is - we’ll deal with the other kind soon).

When dealing with water, you always want to wear gloves. I suggest strong rubber gloves with a good grip. These make it easier to remove the larger, solid pieces of water. A good beginners’ plumbing exercise is to take a large bucket of plumbing water, then with your gloves remove as many solid pieces as you can. If you are good enough, you will be able to suck this water through a drinking straw. Personally, I wouldn’t, though. It’s just not my taste.

The next thing you must learn about is pipes. Pipes are what get clogged in order to prevent water from reaching its destination. But before you start ripping out all the pipes in your house, let me remind you that pipes also prevent water from reaching unwanted destinations, such as your brand new sofa. There is no need to practice any exercises with pipes, as the drinking straw in the previous exercise should have taught you all you need to know.

Now we come to the most crucial part of our crash-course on plumbing: Stuffed toilets. This is an area of great mystery, mainly because there is no way to know what the toilet is stuffed with. There are two types of stuffed toilets, your slow-flusher and your no-flusher. The latter one is also known as the up-chucker. In the case of a slow-flusher, all that’s required is a temporary fix. This can be accomplished quite simply by plunging the toilet with a plunger (rubber end down) several times.

After several fixes of a slow-flusher ($149 per incident), the toilet will most likely regress to a no-flusher. This is probably one of the most traumatic experiences for a toilet owner, and as a professional plumber, you should calm everyone down by bending over the toilet and allowing the back of your pants to drop several inches. A no-flusher can have two stages. The first stage, known as “Flush One” is when the water level in the toilet reaches the top of the bowl and does not fall. Not all no-flushers enter this stage; some go straight to the next stage, known as “The Over-Abundance”. This is when all the water in the bowl spills out over the bathroom floor, creating quite a mess (if your wife or girlfriend is still doing spring cleaning, invite them in to take care of this). In any case, your job is now to get the water back where it belongs, namely, in the pipes. This is where the plumbers’ snake comes in handy. Lower the coil into the toilet, turn the handle several times, and pull it out. What happens? Send me an email letting me know - I have never tried this.

At 19,089 tons and with 376 well-appointed cabins and suites, Braemar upholds the Fred Olsen tradition of small-ship intimacy without compromising on personal space.
On board, the Baroness’ performance is small and intimate before returning to the United States for a charitable event in South Florida later this summer. Baroness Elisa defines the best in cabaret theater and South Florida audiences are invited support the leading Gay and Lesbian organization, Compass,in a spectacular charity fundraiser in Delray Beach on Sunday, August 7th.

Great musical theater songs the Baroness has chosen for this charity theatrical event are dramatically intense, touching, witty, ironic, and just plain charming. Baroness Elisa, who has performed on world stages throughout Europe and Australia, noted, “It is an honor and privilege to perform for this noble and important cause”.
The intimate three hundred seat Crest Theatre in Delray Beach provides a perfect theater venue where the Baroness Elisa’s charisma and audience connection can thrive.

When most people think of Bass Fishing Bait, what comes to mind is usually basic information that’s not particularly interesting or beneficial. But there’s a lot more to choosing the right Bass Fishing Bait than just the basics.

Most of this information comes straight from the Bass Fishing pros who know what type of the bait is best to lure your fish. Careful reading to the end virtually guarantees that you’ll know what they know.

How can you catch a big fish? How can you attract those fish when daytime? How can you have the best catch of your life? May be you need to seduce those fish to come into your fishing rod. But what you really need is the best fishing lure.

Fishing lures is very important to bass fishing because it will help you catch more fish or even win that very important fishing tournament. There are various types of lures that are used specifically for bass fishing. There are fishing lures each for use in luring small fish, for fish living in shallow waters, for fast swimming fish, for big and large fish as well as for a big-mouthed fish.

In Bass fishing you need to pull the fish’s attention towards you. Fishing lures help you to excite the fish awareness. Some of the lures contain a rotating and shaking action and it produces an overall thrill for the starving trout, pinfish or bass into a feeding emotion.

Some of the Bass fishing lures create a charm for the fish and works in wonders in catching your favorite fish. They come up with a multi-color design so that the fish can see the lures clearly and get attracted. A fish-like imitation also makes a fish swims fast towards it. This is one of the oldest form of fishing lures.

Other Bass Fishing lures are also designed to be thick in the middle and have a curve at the both edges to create an angle when it is soaked on the water. The design and its actions of the fish lures will also let you manipulate the fish and you will catch them in the easiest way.

To look more fashionable some of the fishermen have a different color for their fishing lures, like the silver, gold plated, red/white, firetiger, lightning flash, rainbow color, shades of red gold and the yellow slash.

Bass fishing lures comes in a different size; some of them are slender and thin, others are big with tiny edges, depending upon the size of the fish you want to catch. If you want to catch a small fish and the fishing lures you are using are very big the fish might think that it is a predator and he will not go to your hook. Fishing lures should also depend upon the size of the fishing hook.

Several of the Bass Fishing lures also vary in the weight, some fishing lures are ultra light and they are angled so that it will cause a spin. As an effect of the angel the fishing lure will be consistent on its action, it can also have the territorial defense against the instinct of the predator fish.

Added features to the lures like a life-like fish shape can also be a very effective way to catch the attention of the fish. These fishes have three-dimensional images that will make the lure look irresistible. Several types of life-like fish lures have sparkling eyes so that it would be easy for the fish to identify the lure and the fish will get tempted.

If you want to have deep fishing lures, those with tight design will exile, break and do better than any other crankbaits. Because of the features a wobbling effect in swallow water. Some of professional anglers add some blood on their crank baits so that hungry fish will immediately recognize it and swim towards the lure. Afterwards if the fish already take up the scent of blood, the fish will surely bite the hook.

You must choose the best way to attract the fish. It is not about fooling the fish, it is about thinking of the wisest idea in order for you to attract them.

Take time to consider the points presented above. What you learn may help you overcome your hesitation to take action. Go fishing!

A major staple for spring time bass fishing is the floating worm. The tactic can work well in pre-spawn and post-spawn situations. I have most of my success with a watermelon seed color but that is probably due to the confidence level and the amount of time I spend fishing with them. One look at the Wal-Mart shelves will show you that the most popular colors are bubblegum and white. A 2/0 hook on relatively light line is all that is needed for this rig. A baitcaster can be used if the worms are heavy enough but I prefer a 6′6″ medium spinning rod with 10lb test. I like to fish floating worms in the backs of coves and creeks lined with timber structure or boat docks.

A typical retrieve is much like the retrieve of a jerk-bait. As the worm is retrieved it will dip, dart, and spin much like a casting spoon. This spinning will kink the line and could cause a bird nest on the spinning reel. To prevent this I use a
small black barrel swivel about 12 inches above the hook. The barrel swivel adds just enough weight to help with casting and will cause the worm to sink very slowly. This enables the fisherman to fish the bait on the surface with a steady retrieve or slow it down and fish it like a suspended jerk bait. Cast to the target and let it settle before beginning the twitch, twitch, pause, retrieve action. As the bait approaches the structure, I may change the cadence slightly pausing for several seconds letting the worm sink slowly down beside the structure.

Developed mainly for salmon and trout, fly fishing is a special angling method whose origins are lost in the mist of time. Initially, real flies and worms were used as baits, bur as time passed and plastic and rubber were invented, artificial flies replaced the real ones. The rods were made from wood at first, but are now made from polycarbonate and glass fiber. The artificial fly is very light, however the line is heavy, helping the bait sink.

Places to go fly-fishing
Many stories have been told about places where trout jump out of water, or where you can catch salmon with your bare hands. I can’t promise you that, but I am going to tell you about two of my favourite fly-fishing locations, where you can find big trout and salmon, and where you can have a relaxing time as well.

La Rioja, Spain
Spain. What would be the first image that comes into your mind when thinking of Spain? Sunny beaches perhaps, wine and friendly people maybe, but not in a million years would you think about fly-fishing. Well, think again, because in La Rioja, a small town in northern Spain, is the perfect spot for trout fishing. The two wild rivers that surround La Rioja, (Iregua and Najerilla) are perfect for fly-fishing. Big trout, enjoying life in the fertile water, steep valleys and tall mountains, is exactly what you will find in La Rioja. The most popular bait used by the locals fishing on the slower streams, is the Damsel Fly, while on the faster section of the river, the caddis rules. Artificial baits are used as well. But there is more to this place than the scenery. The people are the element that gives the real value to the spot. Besides, they are really experienced fishermen, so you could learn a thing or two from them. Therefore, if you should decide to go fly-fishing to Spain, this is exactly where you should book a ticket.

The Gaspe Peninsula, Quebec
This wonderful place is located at about 350km eastwards from the mainland of Canada. Because of the surrounding mountains, that rise up to 1200m, and the gulf called “Baie des Chaleurs” ( “The Gulf of Heat”), the scenery here is breath-taking. The rivers here are said to have the clearest water in the world. Just check this with your own eyes, and you will have no doubt. Fishing in Gaspe will definitely be an experience you will never forget. For instance, the water is so clear, that you can see the salmon as it nears your fly, and the majestic dance it performs around it. This is a great place for out-door camping as well.

Good fishing
These are just two of the many wonderful places a passionate fisherman could go. However, just as the place is important, so is company. So, if you don’t want to fish alone, choose your company well, since bad company can ruin everything. Trust me, I know!
