My Recent Weight Loss Took Me Back to My Chocolate Addiction
An enjoyable hobby I like to partake in is to produce cold-process soap. And what is the connector between soap and chocolate? A WHOLE lot! The other day, I was looking up HLB, hydrophilic-lipophilic balance of cocoa butter. To my delight and horror, it’s an extremely supersaturated fat. Now, I’m not completely lazy and I do make efforts to check my fat intake, and so just why this was a surprise to myself I’m not sure.
I have poor HDL and high LDL levels as well as diabetes, this wasn’t the news I wanted to hear. A few bites of “brown heaven” have more cholesterol and fat in them than a small movie popcorn cup with the butter on it. The very same day, I binned all the chocolate in the house and I swore off chocolate for ever more. However, good news arrived later on. I was told by my doctor that my recent weight loss assisted in lowering my levels of LDL and promoted my HDL. I went out to celebrate by purchasing an outfit in my more svelt size. When I was leaving the mall, I caught a whiff of the sweetest aroma. Chocolate. My body heard the call and next thing I knew, I had purchased 2 truffles. Needless to say, I’m never letting go of my habituation to this “brown heaven”.
Actually, I’m paying a Derby catering firm who are experts in making chocolate to provide a food service for my marriage ceremony next year.
